Last month the European Commission’s Integrated Product Policy (IPP) program and the 5 largest cell phone manufactures (Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG, and Sony-Ericson) announced they have initiated a “voluntary†5 star rating system for eco-friendly battery chargers. The rating system characterizes the no-load loss of battery chargers… i.e. the power loss that occurs when the device or cell phone is not connected to the charger.
This is a commendable first step in the direction of eliminating these energy vampires, however if these cell phone manufactures were really serious about eliminating this energy loss they would license our patent pending vampire proof TM charger technology.
Vampire proof TM charger technology virtually eliminates no load loss with a miniscule amount of leakage current which is less than 2 nano amps, that is less then 0.000000002A which is hardly worth mentioning. This puts the quantitative energy savings at nearly 125000 times that of a 5 star charger from the newly defined rating system.
With nearly 4 billion active “lossy†cell phone chargers in existence we cannot afford to play games amidst the current energy crisis and the warming of our planet.
